As someone who has dealt with many medical abnormalities and had to undergo a couple life changing surgeries since being born premature, I can say that the healthcare system has given me and my low income family many benefits and have treated me with utmost respect and care. My family almost didn’t have to pay for a single dime for all the surgeries I got, even from one of the best hospitals being Stanford Children’s Hospital. This is where I have been a patient with them since birth due to the critical conditions I was in when born. Although the healthcare system specifically has provided lots of financial aid to undeserved communities like me, there is still some setbacks between the healthcare system towards us low income people. An example is that although my family receives many financial benefits, we only receive it from some of the best health professionals in the area of Northern California.
Where as in some rare cases, we are treated differently by family doctors due to our low income status and thus government benefits of not paying full price of medical and health related needs.
An example, my family receives high-quality care and respect, with the added benefit of financial assistance, exclusively from some of the finest health professionals in Northern California.
